    We invite you to join us in touring one of the largest classrooms in the world! Observe our school in action and learn how education is delivered using technology ‘in the bush’.

    The ‘Longreach School of Distance Education’ (formerly known as Longreach School of the Air) is a unique experience and is one of sixteen distance education schools in the country; and one of seven in QLD.

    Tours are run for 1hr twice daily at 9:00 am and 10:30 am, Monday to Friday;

  • HARRY REDFORD OLD TIME TENT SHOW

    This is Aussie outback humour and ingenuity at its best! It’s a hilarious hour of entertainment featuring animals, stockmen and improvised live theatre with a laugh a minute. Kids love it and so do adults.

    Based on the traditional outback travelling shows, it’s hard not to be charmed by the simple delights of bush theatre. The Harry Redford Old Time Tent Show tells a fictional story set in the time of Harry Redford (Captain Starlight) and refers to his infamous adventures.

    Largest preserved rural generating facility in Australia, see the big engines, coal train, machinery and trucks of old. The Social History Museum houses old shop fittings, an old school room and history of the Longreach Region. Nogo’s Boundary rider’s cottage is a step back in time with horsehair mattresses, wood burning stove and windup telephone. A great place for children to get a feel for the past.

  • LONGREACH SKATE PARK

    The skate park is fully covered and surrounded by gardens. This is where you can ride your skate board, BMX Bike or Roller Blades. The skate park is a popular social area for local youth.

  • EDKINS PARK (ANZAC MEMORIAL PARK)

    Located on the Landsborough Highway, across from the Railway Station, the Park has a covered BBQ facility with a children’s playground and toilets. Edkins Park also has the site of the Cenotaph and the ANZAC service is held here each year.

  • LIONESS PARK

    Located on corner of Sparrow and Cassowary Streets, the Lioness Park has a BBQ, children’s playground area and toilets. Playgroup is held here every week.

    This park is entirely fenced (sorry, no dogs allowed).

  • ILFRACOMBE

    ILFRACOMBE MEMORIAL PARK –
    Located on Landsborough Highway between the Post Office and Swimming Pool has shade structures throughout, as well as toilets and showers.

    ILFRACOMBE POOL & HEATED ARTESIAN SPA
    Swim in the heated natural mineral waters of the Artesian Spa, located in the centre of town on the Landsborough Highway, beside the Memorial Park.
